8 Ban Ochra Fibre
A fibre obtained from the Urena Lobata belonging to the mallow family, and is a native of China and India. Used for making sacks, and in India as a substitute for flax. It is white coloured, strong and fine. Also known as Toja Fibre. -

They have also been used for violin strings. The fibre is obtained by retting the leaves and washing and preparing after retting. Also known as Bastard Aloe and Manila Aloe fibre. -
14 Paper Mulberry Fibre
The bast fibre from a small tree, the Broussonetia Papyrifera, native of Japan, China, Southern Asia, and Polynesia. The fibre is fine and strong. It is used to make the tape fabric. The bark, after separation from the plant, is steeped in water until the inner and outer layers can be separated easily. 15 Salopa Fibre
The native trade term for a very stiff, tough and elastic fibre from the stems of the coconut and palmyra palm trees in India and Burma. Used locally for coarse ropes. In 1887 an English firm attempted to use the fibre as a substitute for whalebone in corsets. -

A fibre derived from the bast of the Helicteres Asoca, a native of the East Indies. The fruit is twisted, hence the name. The fibre is used for cordage, gunny bags, and blinds for verandahs. -
17 Abrome Fibre
Fine silky fibres yielded by the Abroma Augusta plant, a native of the East Indies. The fibre is obtained from the white bark and used for cordage and many purposes for which jute is employed. Owing to their whiteness and cleanliness it is suggested as a substitute for silk. Also known as Devil's cotton and perennial Indian hemp. -

The Babaquet tree is a creeper variety. Native in the Abra province of the Philippines. A fibre from the stem is used for cordage. -

Bast fibre. Obtained from the Gnetum gnemon, a tall shrub, native of the Philippines; used for twine and cordage by the natives. -
20 Bassine Fibre
A palm tree native of East India, gives this fibre, the leaves are about 2 feet long and the fibres obtained from them are stiff, wiry and thin; used for brushes. The natives make hats and umbrellas from the leaves.
